±Curriculum

· Early Dance - These New Hampshire Early Dance Classes are specially designed to provide children between three and six years of age with a strong foundation in dance and movement. Through participation in this program, young children learn the basic elements of movement and dance and some elementary positions of ballet. The four and five year old classes are introduced to tap and the six year old classes are introduced to jazz. Additionally, students will learn the basics of classroom behavior that is required throughout their dancing years.

· Creative Gym - This program is designed for three to five year olds. The emphasis is on fun, incorporating tumbling and balancing, using equipment and playing games.

· Creative Movement - Classes specifically designed for self expression, creativity, gaining awareness of their own movement and increasing self esteem. We cover basic fundamentals of dance and movement space, time, levels, locomotion (walking, jumping, running, hopping etc.) and non locomotion (bending, twisting, stretching etc.) to name a few.

· Ballet - The foundation of all dance forms, students are strongly encouraged to study ballet. Body placement and flexibility are taught and developed through barre, adagio and allegro work. Ballet classes in NH for all ages.

· Pointe - Pointe is offered to students by teacher recommendation. Effective September 2006, two ballet classes are required to take pointe.

· Jazz - An evolving technique, with American origins. Styles are varied from traditional, to lyrical to funk. Our NH jazz dance lessons utilizes fundamental ballet vocabulary, but its fast pace makes it a popular dance form to learn.

· Tap Dance Lessons - A fun but challenging dance technique where regulated patterns formed by single, double or triple sounds create a challenge to all who study it.

· Modern Dance Lessons - Nikolais and Humphrey dance technique are studied. These techniques develop self expression, understanding of movement progressions and rhythm. Laban’s movement efforts are also introduced through improvising.

· Hip Hop - A stylized form of dance that incorporates both jazz and funk movement to contemporary music.

 

Description of Levels
Each level will require most students 2 years to complete. Students will have to achieve certain skills to advance to the next level. The levels and age requirements are listed below. This is a general guide for everyone to follow.

Level 1 Beginner I Ages 7 - 8
Level 2 Beginner II Ages 8 - 10
Level 3 Intermediate I Ages 10 - 12
Level 4 Intermediate II Ages 13 - 15
Level 5 Advanced I Ages 14 - 17
Level 6 Advanced II Ages 16 - 18
Level 3 & 4 students must take two classes per week and Level 5 & 6 students must take 3 classes per week.
Modern dance classes will not be offered until the Level 3. We will also be offering New Hampshire classes in Ballet, Tap Dance and Jazz for those students who only want to take a single dance class per week. These will be the A, B, and C classes.

A - ages 10 - 13 Beginner
B - ages 12 - 15 Beginner/Intermediate
C - ages 14 - 18 Intermediate/Advanced


All class placements are based on age and skill as well as teacher recommendation.
